Lagos Police Detain Officers After Actor Ijoba Lande Alleges Assault

Lagos state police command detains a number of its officers who are accuse of assaulting popular actor and skit maker Ganiyu Moruf. Commonly known as Ijoba Lande in order to further investigate the case.

On Friday, February 6, 2026, the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Adebisi, confirmed the development after widespread attention on social media on the supposed attack.

Adebisi said that officers involved are distinguish and currently under internal examinations. All the sides are being interviewed, the actor, his friend who was with him, and the officers who were involved.

“The officers involved have been brought to the command for questioning. Currently, statements are being obtained from them, the complainant, and his friend. Updates will be shared as the investigation progresses,” the spokesperson stated.

Earlier, a video circulating online showed Ijoba Lande in the front passenger seat of a vehicle with visible injuries. Including a bleeding left cheek and bruises. In the footage, he spoke in Yoruba, repeatedly asking for water. While bystanders encouraged him to report the incident to the police.
