Dana Eden, the 52-year-old creator and producer of the Emmy-winning Israeli spy drama Tehran, was tragically found dead in her Athens hotel room. Her brother discovered her after she failed to respond to his messages.
Greek police are investigating the cause of her death, with an autopsy expected soon. However, local news outlets report that there is currently no evidence of foul play.

Dana & Shula Productions, the company co-owned by Mrs. Eden, shared a heartfelt tribute.
“We’re shocked and saddened by the untimely passing of our beloved friend and partner. Dana was a gifted creator with an international reputation.”
Speculation has surfaced online suggesting Mrs. Eden may have been targeted by Iranian agents. However, the production company firmly denied these rumors, stating.
“The production company wants to make it clear that the rumors of the death being criminal or nationalistic are not true and baseless. We call on the media and the public to avoid spreading unfounded theories and to act with responsibility and sensitivity. This is a moment of immense pain for the family, friends, and colleagues. We want to preserve Dana’s dignity and privacy.”
The Movie Tehran
Tehran, which won an Emmy Award in 2021 for Best Drama Series, features stars like Glenn Close and Hugh Laurie in its second and third seasons. The show was filming its fourth season in Greece. With Athens serving as a stand-in for Tehran due to visual similarities and restrictions preventing Israelis from visiting Iran.
Greek police are now reviewing security camera footage and interviewing hotel staff as part of their investigation.
The Israel Broadcasting Corporation also expressed its condolences, saying.
“Dana was among the senior figures in the Israeli television industry and played a central role in creating and leading some of the corporation’s most prominent and influential productions.”
Despite the tragedy, production on the fourth season of Tehran expected to continue. The corporation noted:
“The fourth season of the series is currently film in Greece. A complex and significant production, which Dana came to closely monitor.”
