FG Approves N4bn Take-Off Grants for Tinubu Poly, Epe Varsity

The Federal Government approved N4 billion in take-off grants for two new tertiary institutions. It allocated N2 billion each to the Bola Ahmed Tinubu Federal Polytechnic in Abuja and the Federal University of Science and Technology in Epe, Lagos State. The funds aimed to accelerate early operations.

Education Minister Dr Tunji Alausa announced the approval during a ceremony in Abuja. The money helped the schools set up administrative and academic structures. Additionally, it supported their initial development as they prepared to begin full activities.

Government Inaugurates Key Leaders

Furthermore, the government inaugurated pioneer officials for the institutions. Prof Nosiru Onibon took up duties as the pioneer rector of the Bola Ahmed Tinubu Federal Polytechnic. Prof Adeola Oshikoya assumed the position of vice-chancellor at the Federal University of Science and Technology in Epe.

Dr Tunji Alausa presented the appointment certificates to the leaders. He also inaugurated Dr Angela Ajala as executive secretary of the National Commission for Colleges of Education.

Alausa Stresses Quality Education Standards

Dr Tunji Alausa highlighted the goals behind the move. He explained that the institutions went beyond expanding the tertiary system. Moreover, they formed strategic platforms for national development under the administration of President Bola Tinubu.

“Every child in this country deserves access to the highest quality education comparable to global standards,” Alausa said. He added that authorities selected the appointees based on their records of service and achievements.

Minister Urges Strong Leadership

Dr Tunji Alausa reminded the new officials of their responsibilities. “To whom much is given, much is expected,” he said. “You have been chosen from millions of Nigerians to serve your country, and this recognition extends to your families as well.”

He noted that the locations in Abuja and Epe allowed the institutions to harness local human resources and economic potential. The polytechnic and university focused on areas such as technological innovation, renewable energy and climate change response.
