Nigerian music star Chike has publicly accused a woman identified as Chioma Nneoma Ochibili of allegedly defrauding him of $20,000 (about ₦28 million) in a business deal that he now claims never existed.
The singer made the allegation in a series of posts on X on Monday morning. Where he expressed frustration over the situation and said he only recently realized he might have scammed.
Alleged Fake Business Deal
According to Chike, the woman allegedly convinced him that she involved in a legitimate business opportunity and collected the money as part of the deal. However, after waiting for the expected results. The singer said he began to suspect that the entire arrangement might have been fraudulent.
In one of his posts, Chike wrote that the woman’s supposed business was simply “surviving on other people’s money,” suggesting that he may not be the only victim.
He also revealed that aside from the $20,000 he personally lost, another $50,000 reportedly unaccounted for. Rasing further questions about the alleged scheme.
Singer Reacts to the Situation
Reacting to the incident, the singer expressed disbelief at how long it took him to realise what had happened. Joking that he was even laughing at himself for falling victim to the alleged scam.
When some social media users asked him to provide more details about the nature of the business transaction. Chike responded that the exact type of business was not the real issue, insisting that the deal itself never actually existed.
Efforts to Recover the Money
The singer also disclosed that he has already started taking steps to recover the money he allegedly lost, although he did not reveal the exact actions being taken.
