Iranian officials reported on Saturday that an airstrike hit the Natanz nuclear facility. The attack occurred as the war between the United States, Israel, and Iran continued into its fourth week.
The Strike
Iran’s Atomic Energy Organization confirmed the attack on Saturday. The organization stated that the strike targeted the Shahid Ahmadi Roshan Enrichment Complex at Natanz. As reported by ALO360, Iranian state media Mizan news agency reported that the facility sustained damage but no radioactive material leaked from the site.
The Atomic Energy Organization stated: “This is an action in violation of international law. Technical assessments indicate that no radioactive material leakage has occurred and there is no danger to residents of the surrounding areas.”
Official Statements
Reza Najafi, Iran’s representative to the International Atomic Energy Agency, addressed the incident. He previously told reporters at an IAEA board meeting that the facility had suffered attacks. Najafi stated: “Again they attacked Iran’s peaceful, safeguarded nuclear facilities.”
The Atomic Energy Organization called for international condemnation. The organization asked: “Why don’t the International Atomic Energy Agency and the international community take a clear, firm, and international law based stance on the attack on Iran’s peaceful nuclear facilities and the violation of international obligations and laws?”
No Casualties Reported
Iranian authorities reported no injuries from the strike. Furthermore, the International Atomic Energy Agency confirmed it detected no increase in off site radiation levels. The agency announced on social media that Iran had informed it about the strike and the absence of radiation leaks.
Previous Attacks
This marked the second time the Natanz facility suffered hits during the ongoing conflict. An earlier strike occurred on March 2, 2026, during the first week of the war. Satellite imagery from that earlier attack showed damage to multiple buildings at the site.Natanz has served as Iran’s primary uranium enrichment location. The facility sits approximately 220 kilometers southeast of Tehran. It previously sustained attacks during the 12 day war between Iran and Israel in June 2025.
Military Context
Israel Katz, Israel’s Defense Minister, issued a video statement on Saturday. Katz warned that military operations would intensify. He stated: “This week, the intensity of the strikes to be carried out by the IDF and the U.S. military against the Iranian terror regime and the infrastructure on which it relies will rise significantly.”
The Israel Defense Forces declined to confirm specific details about the Natanz strike. A spokesperson told The Jerusalem Post that the military was not aware of an Israeli strike targeting Natanz.
U.S. Position On The Strike
Donald Trump, President of the United States, posted on social media on Friday. Trump wrote: “We are getting very close to meeting our objectives as we consider winding down our great Military efforts in the Middle East.”
Trump listed five objectives for the military campaign. These included destroying Iranian military capability, eliminating the Iranian Navy and Air Force, and preventing Iran from obtaining nuclear weapons.
Despite these comments, the United States continued deploying additional forces to the region. The Pentagon announced plans to send three more amphibious assault ships and approximately 2,500 additional Marines to the Middle East.
