Bamiloye Defends Adeboye Over Insecurity Remarks
Evangelist Mike Bamiloye, founder of Mount Zion Faith Ministries, has defended Pastor Enoch Adeboye after recent criticism over his comments on Nigeria’s insecurity.
He made the clarification in a post shared on his Instagram page on Wednesday. In the post, he said critics misrepresented the RCCG General Overseer’s position.
According to him, Adeboye only spoke against worsening insecurity in the country. He also insisted that bloggers twisted the message for attention.
Video Sparks Fresh Online Debate
Meanwhile, a video of Adeboye resurfaced on Tuesday and triggered mixed reactions online.
The clip, which was originally recorded in November 2025, showed the cleric urging the Federal Government to give security chiefs a 90-day deadline to end terrorism or resign.
As a result, some social media users accused him of discouraging protests against insecurity, while others defended his stance.
“Expectations Are Unrealistic” – Bamiloye
Furthermore, Bamiloye dismissed calls for the 84-year-old cleric to lead street protests.
He said such expectations ignore Adeboye’s age and spiritual responsibility.
“It does not make sense by virtue of his age and the mandate of his calling,” he stated.
In addition, he stressed that religious leaders should focus on spiritual guidance rather than public demonstrations.
CAN and PFN Directed 2020 Protest – Bamiloye
Bamiloye also clarified Adeboye’s involvement in a 2020 protest march during the Buhari administration.
He explained that the demonstration was not a personal political action. Instead, it followed directives from the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) and the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN).
According to him, churches were instructed to protest insecurity collectively, and Adeboye complied with the directive.
Church Reaffirms Political Neutrality
Meanwhile, the RCCG Public Relations Department has also addressed the controversy.
It explained that a viral image of Adeboye holding a placard came from a 2020 prayer walk, not a political protest.
In addition, the church reaffirmed that Adeboye remains politically neutral. It also noted that he encourages civic participation without endorsing political parties.
Church Calls for Prayer and Peace
Finally, Bamiloye emphasised that the Church’s primary responsibility remains prayer and intercession for the nation.
He said continued prayers are essential for peace and divine intervention in Nigeria’s governance.
