2026 Ekiti governorship election: APC will definitely win, says Uba Sani

Uba Sani

Uba Sani, governor of Kaduna state and chairman of the APC Ekiti governorship campaign council, says he is confident the All Progressives Congress (APC) will win the Ekiti governorship election.

Sani spoke on Saturday during an interview with Arise Television as voting continued across the state.

‘APC will certainly win’

The governor said developments across polling units indicate that the APC is on course for victory.

According to him, reports from the field and observations by journalists support his assessment.

“Because of what we have seen so far, I have taken journalists around key polling units across the state, and they have also seen for themselves what is happening,” he said.

“For me, what is most important is that this election is going peacefully, and APC will certainly win this election.”

Sani commends INEC, observers

Furthermore, Sani praised the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for the conduct of the poll.

He also commended election observers monitoring the exercise across the state.

“I want to thank INEC officials and observers who have been going around,” he said.

The APC campaign council chairman added that the peaceful atmosphere surrounding the election remains encouraging.

Voting underway across Ekiti

Meanwhile, voters across Ekiti state’s 16 local government areas are casting their ballots to elect a governor.

The election is being closely watched as one of the first major tests of the Electoral Act 2026 and the leadership of Joash Amupitan, chairman of INEC.

Several political parties are participating in the contest, including the APC, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), African Democratic Congress (ADC) and other opposition parties.
