President Bola Tinubu has announced the rescue of 38 worshippers kidnapped in Eruku, Kwara State, and 51 students taken from a Catholic school in Niger State. He said the operations show his administration’s steady progress in tackling insecurity.
In a statement on Sunday, the President stressed that no Nigerian should live in fear. He explained that he is following every update from security agencies and monitoring ongoing operations across the country.
Tinubu also revealed that he cancelled his trip to the G20 Summit in South Africa. He said the decision allowed him to remain in Abuja and coordinate the national response to the recent attacks.
“You will recall that I cancelled my trip to the G20 Summit in South Africa to enable me coordinate the security efforts at home,” he said.
Security Forces Record Major Gains
The President noted that security forces made important breakthroughs in the last few days. He confirmed that every one of the 38 abducted worshippers in Kwara returned safely after coordinated action by security teams.
He also reported that 51 missing students in Niger State have been found. According to him, operations are still ongoing to track suspects and secure the remaining victims.
Tinubu said he receives constant reports from the field and stays in close touch with frontline commanders. He added that his focus is on restoring calm in all affected communities.
Tinubu Reaffirms Commitment to National Safety
The President vowed not to relax his efforts. He stated that every Nigerian has the right to safety and that his government will keep working to strengthen security nationwide.
“Let me be clear: I will not relent. Every Nigerian, in every state, has the right to safety — and under my watch, we will secure this nation and protect our people,” he said.
Tinubu praised the security agencies for their recent success. He assured citizens that the government is committed to restoring peace and stopping further attacks.
