Abia Governor Rewards Army Officer Who Captured Notorious Kidnap Kingpin

Alex Otti, who serves as the Governor of Abia State, rewarded Amoke Gunshot Simeon, who holds the rank of Staff Sergeant in the Nigerian Army, for his meritorious service during the state’s darkest security period. Furthermore, the governor approved immediate overseas medical treatment for the officer. As reported by ALO360, the recognition took place at the Government House in Umuahia.

Simeon previously led the gallant troop that neutralized the dreaded kidnapping kingpin known widely as OSISIKANKWU. Additionally, the officer commanded the tactical team that successfully dislodged the criminal gang which had held the state captive through sustained terror operations. Consequently, the syndicate’s grip on Abia State ended following the military intervention.

OSISIKANKWU operated with impunity and established a reign of terror across multiple communities. Previously, the criminal group caused mass exodus of residents and businesses from Abia State. Furthermore, the kidnapping network terrorized citizens for an extended period before the decisive military strike.

Alex Otti presented the reward to acknowledge the officer’s bravery and sacrifice during those critical operations. “Amoke Gunshot Simeon demonstrated exceptional courage in the face of grave danger,” Otti stated during the ceremony. Additionally, the governor emphasized that “this administration recognizes those who risk their lives to restore peace and security to our communities.”

Simeon accepted the honour and thanked the state government for the recognition. “I served with dedication to protect the people of Abia State,” the Staff Sergeant stated. Furthermore, he affirmed that “my team remained committed to eliminating the security threats that plagued our society.”

The governor additionally approved that Simeon travel abroad for specialized medical treatment. This decision followed injuries the officer sustained during the various military operations against the criminal elements. Meanwhile, the state government pledged continued support for security personnel who demonstrate exceptional gallantry.
