A police operation has exposed a suspected criminal base operating under a religious cover.
The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has carried out a targeted operation in Ikono Local Government Area, uncovering a location allegedly used as a criminal hideout disguised as a church. The Akwa Ibom police raid led to the arrest of seven suspects and the recovery of firearms and other items.
According to police spokesperson Timfon John, the building, named “All Power Belongs to Me, Solomon of our Generation,” is located in Ndiya Mfia village.
The raid followed credible intelligence that the site was being used to harbor individuals involved in criminal activities.
During the operation, officers recovered two locally made double-barrel guns, expended cartridges, four motorcycles, mobile phones, and several other items.
Additional exhibits included machetes, a police crest, jungle boots, and materials believed to be linked to ongoing investigations.
The Akwa Ibom police raid church hideout also resulted in the arrest of multiple suspects, including a preacher identified as Brian Ebeka.
Authorities say preliminary investigations suggest the location was being used as a cover for unlawful operations, raising concerns about the misuse of religious fronts.
Police have issued a strong warning to criminal elements, stating that no disguise will shield illegal activities from law enforcement.
The Akwa Ibom police church hideout raid highlights ongoing efforts to strengthen security and tackle organized crime across the state.
