Anthony Joshua Pays Tribute to Friends, Appreciates Otedola and Dangote

Anthony Joshua addressed a tragic car crash that killed two of his closest friends. He shared his feelings in a video posted on social media. Fans around the world sent messages of support.

The Fatal Accident

The incident happened on December 29, 2025, near Lagos, Nigeria. Joshua traveled in the back of a Lexus SUV when it hit a stationary truck. He suffered minor injuries and received treatment at a hospital.

Meanwhile Sina Ghami and Latif Ayodele died at the scene. Both men served as his strength coach and personal trainer. They shared a long history with Joshua since childhood.

Authorities charged the driver with dangerous and reckless driving. The remains of Ghami and Ayodele returned to the United Kingdom. A joint funeral took place at a London mosque on January 4, 2026.

Heartfelt Tribute to Brothers

Joshua broke his silence in a video titled “My Brother’s Keeper For Life.” He fought back tears as he spoke about the loss. “They were my brothers,” he said.

Additionally he described them as “my left and my right.” “We became housemates, who were living together,” Joshua added. He emphasized their roles as business partners and major players in his life.

Furthermore, Joshua reflected on the shock. “Everything got flipped on its head,” he explained. “That was such an unforeseen circumstance that was out of all of our control.” He admitted the pain lingered. “I still can’t get my head around it,” Joshua stated. The boxer pledged to honor their memory through actions.

Joshua thanked many people for their help after the crash. He appreciated first responders and medical staff at Lagoon Hospital in Ikoyi. Their efforts aided his recovery.

In particular, he acknowledged billionaire businessmen. “I would also like to give a massive thank you as well to Uncle Femi Otedola and Alhaji Aliko Dangote for all their logistical support,” he wrote. “Without you guys, the transition back to the UK wouldn’t have been as smooth.”

Moreover Joshua expressed thanks to government officials. He mentioned President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos, and Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State. Their involvement provided crucial assistance.

Joshua vowed to support the families of Ghami and Ayodele. “My goal is to help their families and to help them achieve their goals,” he promised. Even though the men passed away he aimed to fulfill their dreams.
