Bandits attacked a Joint Task Force base in Gwana community. The assault happened on Sunday in Gwana District of Alkaleri Local Government Area, Bauchi State. Security forces engaged the attackers in a gun duel. Additionally the confrontation led to significant losses on both sides.
Casualties Reported
The bandits killed two soldiers from the 33 Artillery Brigade in Bauchi. They also killed one local vigilante member during the encounter. Furthermore, the assailants abducted three residents from the community. However security personnel neutralized about seven bandits in the clash.
Police Confirmation
The Bauchi State Police Command confirmed the incident on Monday. Nafiu Habib, Police Public Relations Officer, issued a statement detailing the events. He explained the outcomes of the attack. Moreover the command highlighted the quick response by the Anti-Kidnapping Unit.
Official Statements
Nafiu Habib stated: “As a result of the attack, two soldiers attached to 33 Artillery Brigade, Bauchi, and a vigilante paid the supreme price during the encounter. Three members of the affected community were also abducted, and about seven bandits were neutralised by the Anti-Kidnapping Unit of the Police during the gun duel.”
Sani-Omolori Aliyu, State Commissioner of Police, assured ongoing efforts. He said intelligence gathering continued to track suspects and rescue victims. Additionally, he promised updates on developments.
