Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed has again dismissed a growing PDP defection rumour, saying he has no plan to leave the Peoples Democratic Party for the PRP. His media aide, Mukhtar Gidado, made the clarification on Wednesday in Bauchi, calling the claim false and misleading.
Gidado stressed that the governor remains committed to the PDP. He added that no discussion, meeting, or negotiation with the PRP ever took place. According to him, the rumour arose from people seeking attention through false claims.
Mohammed Reaffirms Loyalty to the PDP
Gidado explained that Governor Mohammed, like every citizen, has the right to choose political partners. However, he noted that the governor has not considered any realignment. He said silence can create confusion, so the government decided to address the PDP defection rumour clearly.
He added that Mohammed has played a central role in stabilising the PDP during recent internal tensions. The aide also said the governor’s influence stretches beyond Bauchi, pointing to his victories over the PRP in previous elections.
Supporters Urged to Remain Alert
Gidado urged PDP supporters to stay focused and protect the progress recorded under the current administration. He highlighted gains in rural development, infrastructure, empowerment, and tourism. He warned that these achievements should not fall into the hands of self-serving political actors.
