Bayern Beat Heidenheim 4–0 in Kane’s First Match as Captain

Bayern Munich ended the first half of the Bundesliga season on a dominant note on Sunday. The champions eased to a 4–0 away victory over Heidenheim to restore their nine-point lead at the top of the table ahead of the winter break.

The match also marked a personal milestone for Harry Kane. The England striker captained Bayern for the first time since joining the club. He led an understrength side with confidence and authority.

Injury-Hit Bayern Maintain Control

Despite missing several first-team regulars through injury, suspension and international duty, Bayern controlled the contest from the opening whistle. The visitors dictated the tempo and limited Heidenheim to few clear chances.

Borussia Dortmund had earlier reduced Bayern’s lead to six points. However, Bayern responded emphatically. Goals from Josip Stanisic, Michael Olise, Luis Diaz and Kane sealed a comfortable win.

Set-Piece Precision Gives Bayern the Edge

Bayern opened the scoring in the 15th minute. Olise delivered a dangerous corner that Stanisic converted to give the visitors the lead.

The advantage doubled shortly after the half-hour mark. Olise again proved decisive, curling in a free-kick that found Hiroki Ito. The defender laid the ball off, allowing Olise to finish calmly.

Late Goals Complete the Victory

After the break, Bayern continued to dominate possession. They restricted Heidenheim’s attacking threat and waited patiently for openings.

Diaz, who returned after missing Bayern’s previous three matches through suspension, headed in the third goal with four minutes remaining. Kane then added the fourth in stoppage time. He beat two defenders before firing a low shot into the corner for his 30th goal of the season.

Kane and Kompany Reflect on Performance

After the match, Kane described 2025 as an “amazing year.” He praised the team’s growing unity and resilience.

“We started to build a spirit and a team energy that is hard to break,” Kane told DAZN. He added that the team remains focused despite its strong position.

Bayern coach Vincent Kompany also praised his players. He admitted the week had been challenging due to multiple absences but commended the squad’s response.

Heidenheim Remain in Relegation Trouble

The defeat leaves Heidenheim second from bottom in the Bundesliga standings. They remain one point from safety as the league pauses for the winter break.
