Biafra Agitation No Longer Needed Under Tinubu Government — Umahi

Minister of Works David Umahi did not mince words when he stated that agitation for a Biafran state is no longer necessary. He explained this with the integration of the Southeast in all of Nigeria’s developmental programs initiated by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Overcoming Past Grievances

In the past, it seemed like the people in the Southeast were not being heard by the previous governments. Umahi added that this seemed to fuel the desire for separation. However it appears that this government under Tinubu is spending lavishly in the region, which brings a positive change. Secondly Umahi appreciates these efforts. He added that they are comfortable and happy with this government.

Key Infrastructure Projects

The government revives stalled projects with durable concrete roads that last 50 to 100 years. For example, the Enugu–Port Harcourt Expressway section by MTN under RCC costs ₦202 billion and nears completion by February.

Moreover, a 72-kilometre road by SKCC receives ₦150 billion, with 30 percent already paid. Other initiatives include the ₦176 billion Section 2B of the Second Niger Bridge, the completed Artisan Bridge in Enugu, and the ongoing Depot Junction flyover, the largest in the Southeast.

The Enugu–Abakaliki Road gets ₦172 billion, while a 123-kilometre legacy project from Ndibe Beach to Benue border totals ₦424 billion.

Call for Strategic Unity

Umahi urged the youth to focus on strategy over sentiment. He said political relevance comes through smart alliances, like supporting Tinubu and joining the APC.Therefore all Southeast governors back the president. Umahi praised his successor in Ebonyi for continuing quiet progress.

A New Era Dawns

This moment marks divine timing for reintegration, Umahi declared. God sent Tinubu to unite the people, he added. As a result, the Southeast embraces national growth. With these advancements, Biafra agitation fades into the past.
