Charles Soludo Sworn In For Second Term as Anambra Governor

Professor Charles Soludo officially commenced his second term as Governor of Anambra State. The swearing-in ceremony took place at the Government House in Awka, the state capital, on March 17, 2026. Consequently, the event marked the continuation of his administration after a successful re-election campaign.

Justice Onochie Anyachebelu administered the oath of office to Soludo. The Chief Judge of Anambra State led the proceedings in the presence of dignitaries, party officials, and security chiefs. Furthermore, the ceremony adhered to constitutional requirements for the assumption of office by an elected governor.

Attendance and Dignitaries

Vice President Kashim Shettima represented President Bola Tinubu at the event. Additionally, governors from the South-East geopolitical zone attended the ceremony. Former Governor Peter Obi of Anambra State also graced the occasion. Moreover, traditional rulers and religious leaders offered their blessings during the event.

Soludo’s Address to the People

Soludo addressed the gathering after taking the oath. He thanked the people of Anambra State for their support. “This mandate is a call to do more,” he stated. He also emphasized his commitment to completing ongoing projects. “We will not rest until Anambra becomes the livable and prosperous smart megacity we promised,” he added.

The governor outlined key areas of focus for his new administration. He promised to accelerate infrastructure development across the state. In addition, he pledged to improve the security situation in Anambra. Education and healthcare also featured prominently in his address. He specifically mentioned the expansion of the “Solution Innovation District” initiative.
