The Nigerian All-Share Index rose 1.29 % on the trading day that ended 9 February 2026, exceeding the 173,000-point mark.
The index went up by 2218.7 points and began at 171727.5 and finished at 173946.22. The big names were powered by bullish momentum with Dangote Cement rising 8.81.
The rally was given the backdrop of a drop in market activity. The volume traded decreased to 775m shares in 65,960 deals and this was against 953m shares traded on Friday.
The market capitalization increased to N111.6 trillion. Zenith Bank and Aradel had trading values of N3.4 000 billion and N2.7 000 billion respectively.
What the data is saying
The good performance of the ASI with its daily gain boosted its year to date performance to 11.79% as the market emphatically crossed the 170,000 level.
Chemical and Allied, May and Baker, and Daar Communications have registered a top 10 percent growth on the gainers chart. On the other hand, Eunisell and Tripple G registered a loss of 9.98 and 8.90, respectively.
Access Holdings recorded the highest volume traded with 67.11 million shares traded, Zenith bank (46.21 million) and Secure Electronic Technology (43.91 million). Veritaskap (N39.3million) and Mutual Benefits (N33.8million) rounded off the top five in terms of volume.
Zenith Bank, Aradel, MTN Nigeria, GTCO and Seplat all ranked above the chart by worth, with transactions of N3.4billion, N2.7billion, N1.7billion and N1.5billion respectively.
SWOOTs and FUGAZ
There was a bullish performance among the SWOOTs (stocks with a value of over N1 trillion).
Dangote Cement was the best performer, up 8.81, then Aradel (2.78) and Nigerian Breweries (2.66).
MTN Nigeria fell a notch down by 0.02.
Why this matters
The fact that the ASI has moved above 173,000 points is an indication of a great bullish momentum. And an increasing confidence among investors following a mixed trading period.
