Geh Geh, a controversial social commentator, has criticized the Grammy Brand, accusing them of disrespecting Nigerian superstar Davido.
In a viral video circulating online, Geh Geh claimed that the Grammys no longer hold value for Davido. He alleged that the organizers included Davido in a nomination without any real intention of awarding him.
Davido is used to promote the Grammy brand in Nigeria
According to Geh Geh, Davido is being used to promote the Grammy brand in Nigeria and across Africa. He recalled previously advising the singer to avoid submitting his work for Grammy consideration, arguing that the awards exploit Davido’s popularity in the African music scene rather than recognizing his talent.
Geh Geh further stated that Davido has been nominated multiple times in the same category, but the organizers seemingly have no plans to let him win. Instead, they allegedly use his name to maintain visibility in Africa.
He also suggested that Davido’s motivational influence in the competition might have worked against him, claiming the Grammy brand fail to fully appreciate the singer’s contributions.
In a subtle jab, Geh Geh hinted that fellow Nigerian artist Wizkid might be content with the current situation, though he didn’t elaborate further.
His Words
He said in part …
“In 2026, you allow Grammy dey rubbish you. Them don rubbish you, you no get value again. I remember when I made a video to advice Davido make e no dey submit him songs to Grammy. These people are using you to promote their award in Nigeria and Africa. But him just dey shout say ‘I want to win Grammy’ go and win Grammy na. Wizkid go dey happy now. This life wey we dey live eh, know where you stand for people life. You fit dey think say you be something for person life, make that person no rate you at all. Na that thing na him Grammy dey do Davido. Grammy know say dey can never give Davido that award but because them still need am to promote and market their award for Nigeria and Africa, na the only reason dey dey nominate Davido”
