Suspects Identified and Detained

Adam Muhammad, Muhammad Muhammad and Bashir Musa faced arrest by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission. Operatives from the Maiduguri Zonal Directorate tracked them down in the city.

The commission acted swiftly following the video’s circulation on social media platforms. According to Dele Oyewale, the EFCC spokesperson, the arrests occurred after investigations began. He released a statement on Thursday that detailed the incident.

“The Maiduguri Zonal Directorate of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, have arrested three individuals over alleged Naira mutilation,” the statement said. It named the suspects and described the video’s content.

Investigation Underway

Investigators held the men at the Maiduguri detention facility. They continued to probe the case. The statement added, “The suspects are currently under investigation at the Maiduguri detention facility, while the investigation is ongoing.”

Furthermore the commission planned to charge them in court. “The suspects will be charged in court upon conclusion of investigations,” Oyewale’s statement confirmed.

This case formed part of wider actions against Naira mutilation. Recently the EFCC targeted similar offenses. For instance, authorities arrested Kannywood actor Saminu Inuwa for related abuse. The commission aimed to safeguard the currency’s integrity through these measures.
