EFCC Charges Couple, Two Firms in N740m Fraud Case

EFCC Drags Couple, Two Companies to Court Over Alleged N740m Investment Fraud

Officials from the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission arraigned Osabohien Ologbosele and Hope Oghelemu, a married couple, along with two companies on February 16, 2026. They appeared before Ekerete Akpan, justice of the Federal High Court in Abuja.

The companies included Onome Global Market Resources Limited and Lexicon Multi concept Media Limited. Prosecutors filed an amended charge on January 28, 2026.

Allegations of Fraudulent Investments

Investigators accused the defendants of inducing people to invest in bitter kola and red kolanut exports to Hong Kong, China, and Indonesia. Victims received neither returns nor refunds.

Moreover one charge claimed Osabohien Ologbosele took N340 million from Hope Oghelemu’s Access Bank account into his Kuda Microfinance Bank account between January 2023 and April 2024. He knew the funds stemmed from unlawful activities.

Pleas and Bail Decisions

The defendants pleaded not guilty to all seven counts. O. S. Ujam, prosecution counsel, requested a trial date. However Marshal Abubakar, defence counsel, sought continued administrative bail for Osabohien Ologbosele and bail for Hope Oghelemu due to her one-year-old child.

Meanwhile Ekerete Akpan allowed Osabohien Ologbosele to remain on administrative bail but remanded Hope Oghelemu at Suleja Correctional Centre. The court adjourned the case to April 27, 2026, for hearing.
