The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), moved to take over a house linked to former Attorney General of the Federation Abubakar Malami in Abuja. As reported by ALO360 operatives marked the property in Maitama on March 23 2026. Officials acted under an interim forfeiture order from the Federal High Court.
EFCC Operatives Seal the Residence
EFCC officials arrived at the Maitama residence with heavily armed security personnel. Consequently they marked the property and asserted control over it.Moreover the operation followed a court granted interim forfeiture order for assets suspected to be proceeds of unlawful activities.
Malami Confronts the Team
Former Attorney General of the Federation Abubakar Malami confronted the operatives on site. Therefore he demanded proof of authorisation.“Where is your court order Are you trying to disgrace me” former Attorney General of the Federation Abubakar Malami stated.
In addition he insisted the action violated due process.
Aide Issues Strong Statement
Mohammed Bello Doka spoke as special assistant on media to former Attorney General of the Federation Abubakar Malami. As a result he described the move as unlawful.
“EFCC officials in the company of heavily armed security personnel forcefully invaded and took over residences and offices linked to Malami marking same without presenting any valid or subsisting court order authorising such actions” Mohammed Bello Doka stated.
Furthermore the statement noted the timing came minutes after a solidarity visit by former Vice President Atiku Abubakar.
Agency Cites Court Order
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission maintained it followed a valid interim forfeiture order. In addition officials pointed to an earlier Federal High Court ruling in January 2026 that covered 57 properties linked to Malami and his sons.
Therefore the agency proceeded to mark the Abuja asset as part of the ongoing process.
