EFCC Moves Against Officers Accused of Extortion
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has suspended several officials accused of extorting ₦10 million from rapper Oladipupo Oladimeji, popularly known as Oladips. EFCC spokesperson Dele Oyewale confirmed the suspension in a statement on Saturday in Abuja.
He said the agency had launched a full investigation into the matter to uncover the truth.

Oladips said EFCC operatives detained him for five days and eventually forced him to pay ₦10 million before his release. He maintained that the officers had no evidence of wrongdoing against him. As a result, the allegation quickly spread on social media, drawing strong reactions from fans and civil rights groups.
EFCC Responds, Summons Officers to Abuja
In response, Oyewale said the EFCC takes the matter seriously and has since summoned the officers involved to its Abuja headquarters for questioning. “The picture painted by the artist does not reflect who we are,” he said. “We have started investigations, and those involved have been removed from operational duties.” Furthermore, Oyewale assured Nigerians that the commission will handle the matter with transparency and fairness.
Agency Reaffirms Integrity and Transparency
The EFCC further emphasized that it remains committed to accountability and integrity in all its operations. Oyewale noted that any staff found guilty will face strict disciplinary action.
However, he also warned that if the allegations turn out to be false or malicious, the commission will not hesitate to sanction anyone attempting to tarnish its reputation. In addition, the spokesperson urged Nigerians to remain calm and trust the process while the investigation continues.
Conclusion
Overall, the EFCC’s swift action shows a renewed focus on transparency and public trust. Ultimately, Nigerians now await the outcome of the probe, which could either strengthen or challenge the commission’s image in future corruption cases.
