Senator Orji Uzor Kalu speaks out on national security issues. He urges Nigerians to shift blame from President Bola Tinubu to state governors. Kalu made these comments during a New Year visit in Ekoli Edda, Ebonyi State. He visited APC chairman Chief Stanley Okoro Emegha and addressed journalists there.
Governors Hold Key ResponsibilityKalu stresses that governors must protect lives and property in their states. He argues this approach will reduce insecurity across Nigeria.
For instance, he praises Ebonyi Governor Francis Nwifuru for strong security measures. “The Ebonyi State governor is securing his state,” Kalu says. “Every governor should secure his state and Nigeria will be safe.”
In addition, Kalu recalls his time as Abia governor. He claims Abia remained the safest state then. “Abia was the most secured area when I was the governor,” he states. “Nobody kidnapped in Aba or Abia State because I was committed to the security of our people.”
Stop Blaming the President
Kalu firmly defends President Tinubu. He says people wrongly expect the president to handle all security matters.
Instead, governors should take charge like he did in Abia. “People are saying President Tinubu should do this and do that to end insecurity, no!” Kalu declares.
Moreover he links insecurity to political sabotage. Kalu alleges some sponsor attacks to undermine Tinubu. “This insecurity is politically instigated,” he explains.
Commitment to APC and Future Plans
Kalu reaffirms his loyalty to the All Progressives Congress. He pledges support for Tinubu and APC governors in upcoming elections. Furthermore he vows to secure Abia for APC in 2027. “Abia will be APC in 2027,” Kalu asserts. “I will lay my heart on the field to ensure our party’s success.”
This message highlights decentralized security efforts. It sparks debate on federal and state roles in Nigeria’s challenges.
