The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has announced the rollout of a fully cashless. And contactless payment system across all airport payment points nationwide under a new initiative tagged “Operation Go Cashless.”
However, The new system will officially take effect on March 1, 2026. Marking a major shift in how payments processed at Nigerian airports.
Faster, Safer, More Convenient
According to FAAN, the move designed to improve transaction speed, enhance security. And eliminate the challenges associated with cash handling at airport facilities. Although, With the new system, passengers, visitors, and airport users will enjoy smoother. And more seamless payments at access gates and commercial service points.
The authority says the transition to digital payments aligns with broader efforts to modernize airport operations. And improve customer experience across the country.
How It Works
As part of the rollout, FAAN has introduced a Go-Cashless Card. Which will be available for pickup at all commercial offices and airport access gates nationwide. Also, The card will serve as a primary payment tool within airport premises, enabling quick and contactless transactions.
