Federal Government Secures Coventry University Partnership for Affordable UK Degrees in Nigeria

The Federal Government secured a partnership with Coventry University to deliver affordable UK degrees to Nigerians at home. As reported by ALO360 officials announced the breakthrough on March 18 2026 through a Transnational Education arrangement. Consequently this step expanded access to globally recognised qualifications and reduced the need for overseas study.

Ministry Issues Official Statement

Folasade Boriowo issued the statement as Director of Press and Public Relations at the Federal Ministry of Education. Moreover she confirmed the details in Abuja and outlined the full scope of the deal.

Dr Tunji Alausa disclosed the partnership as Minister of Education. Therefore he explained that the campus would operate under strict UK standards.

Campus Location and Structure

The Federal Government selected Alaro City in Lagos State for the new campus. In addition the site will host full Bachelor’s and Master’s programmes.

Furthermore the partnership received support from the United Kingdom’s Department for Business and Trade. As a result officials engaged directly with university leaders and investors during recent talks.

Programmes Cover Critical Fields

The campus will offer degrees in Science Technology Engineering Mathematics and Medicine along with Business and Technical Vocational Education and Training. Consequently students will gain skills aligned with global demands.

Dr Tunji Alausa stated the core goal clearly. “The initiative was designed to expand access to world-class education at reduced cost while strengthening skills development and improving graduate employability” he said.

Degrees Match UK Standards

All qualifications awarded will carry full equivalence to those from the United Kingdom. Moreover the Federal Government ensured this through the Transnational Education framework.

Dr Tunji Alausa added a key assurance. “All degrees offered will be equivalent to those awarded in the United Kingdom” he confirmed.

Admissions Timeline Confirmed

Admissions will open between the third and fourth quarters of 2026. Therefore the process awaits only final regulatory approvals from Nigerian authorities.In addition the arrangement will allow flexible local study options and lower overall costs for families.

Minister Outlines Family Benefits

Dr Tunji Alausa highlighted the direct impact on parents. “We want Nigerian parents to enjoy their children being at home while still receiving a world-class UK education” he stated.
