The Nigeria Police Force arrested four men for allegedly defrauding a military officer of N150 million while posing as associates of the Federal Capital Territory Minister, Nyesom Wike.
Police operatives apprehended the suspects following a detailed investigation into the fraudulent scheme. The men allegedly approached the victim with claims of direct access to the FCT Minister and promised to facilitate lucrative government contracts in exchange for financial inducements.
Investigators revealed that the suspects convinced the military officer that they could secure federal projects through their purported connection to Nyesom Wike. They demanded and received N150 million from the victim as a prerequisite for accessing these nonexistent opportunities.
A police spokesperson addressed the arrest during a press briefing. The spokesperson stated, “The suspects exploited the reputation of a high-ranking government official to perpetrate this elaborate fraud. They created false impressions of influence and access to secure money from their victim.”
Detectives traced the financial transactions and identified the four men as the primary perpetrators. The suspects operated as a coordinated group, with each member playing specific roles in the deception. As reported by ALO360, law enforcement officials recovered evidence linking the men to the fraudulent activities.
