Gerhardt Konig has been found guilty of attempted manslaughter after being accused of attacking his wife during a hike on Oahu. The Gerhardt Konig attempted manslaughter verdict was delivered after hours of jury deliberation in Honolulu.

Prosecutors said Konig assaulted his wife, Arielle Konig, on the Pali Puka Trail in March 2025. Arielle Konig testified that she believed her husband was trying to kill her and called for help during the attack.

The defense argued that Konig acted in self-defense, claiming his wife initiated the confrontation during an argument. Konig admitted to hitting her but said it was in response to being attacked first.

The jury did not convict him of attempted murder but instead found him guilty of attempted manslaughter based on extreme emotional disturbance.

The Gerhardt Konig attempted manslaughter verdict follows nearly three weeks of testimony, with both parties presenting conflicting versions of events.

Konig is scheduled to be sentenced on August 13 and faces up to 20 years in prison.

The case has drawn widespread attention, highlighting the complexities of domestic disputes and self-defense claims in violent incidents.
