Governor Alex Otti Unveils 35 Million Beverage Plant in Aba

Governor Alex Otti of Abia State commissioned a 35 million beverage production facility in Aba on March 25, 2026. The plant, owned by Ultimum Limited, represents one of the largest private manufacturing investments in the state in recent years. As reported by ALO360, the commissioning ceremony took place in Osisioma Local Government Area and drew stakeholders from the public and private sectors.

Investment Details

Ultimum Limited established the facility as part of its expansion strategy into Nigeria’s beverage market. The 35 million investment covers production equipment, infrastructure, and operational setup. Furthermore, the plant created direct employment opportunities for residents of Aba and surrounding communities. The facility produces a range of beverages targeting both local consumption and regional distribution.Governor Otti’s RemarksGovernor Otti addressed attendees at the ceremony. He stated, “This investment validates our commitment to making Abia State a destination for serious investors.” He added, “We promised to rebuild our industrial base, and today we see the results of deliberate policy choices.” The governor emphasized that his administration prioritized infrastructure and security to attract such investments.

Economic Impact

The beverage plant aligns with the state government’s broader industrial revival agenda. Previously, the Abia State Economic Transformation Council identified manufacturing renewal as critical to economic growth. Consequently, the administration pursued policies to stabilize public institutions and rebuild investor trust. The Ultimum Limited facility demonstrates the success of this approach.

Company Response

Representatives of Ultimum Limited expressed confidence in the Aba location. They cited the city’s historical reputation as a manufacturing hub and the state government’s improved business environment. The company plans to source raw materials locally where possible. This strategy will integrate the plant into regional supply chains and reduce import dependency.

Broader Industrial Strategy

The commissioning followed recent state government actions to revive dormant industrial assets. Earlier in March 2026, the Abia State Government completed the acquisition of Afro Beverages from the Asset Management Corporation of Nigeria. Additionally, the administration targeted other facilities including Star Paper Mill, Textile Mills, International Equitable Associates, and Ogwe Golden Chicken for revitalization.

Ndubuisi Ekekwe, co-chair of the Abia State Economic Transformation Council, outlined the phased reform strategy. He explained that the reforms began with institutional stabilization before advancing to infrastructure and enterprise development. Ekekwe noted that Aba and Umuahia serve as productivity hubs driving manufacturing expansion across the state.
