Grammy-nominated Nigerian music star Davido, whose real name is David Adeleke, has made it clear that he won’t be switching to Western-style sounds to boost his global appeal.

The Afrobeats sensation shared this during an interview on the Official UK Afrobeats Chart Show with Eddie Kadi. During the chat, he reflected on his journey and achievements in the music industry.

Davido spoke about reaching major milestones in his career, such as performing on world-renowned stages and earning multiple Grammy nominations over the past three years.

Now, he says he feels fulfilled with his accomplishments and is focused on staying true to his roots by creating authentic African music. He also teased fans about a new phase in his career that will deeply reflect his heritage.

“This part of my career, I’ve performed everywhere, sold out every arena, and been to three Grammys in the last three years,” Davido said. “The music that’s coming next is very Davido, very African. We’ve done it all, so I’m not really looking to do Western sounds.”

Davido also expressed gratitude for the strong support he receives from fans in South Africa, noting that a significant portion of the population knows and loves his music.

Over the years, he has collaborated with several South African artists and earned multiple certifications in the country’s music industry.
