Nigerian social commentator Martins Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan, recently shared that he was contacted by operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) over allegations linking him to a planned protest.
According to him, the DSS claimed he had been recruited to organize demonstrations that could disrupt public order. The reports suggested he was working with the African Democratic Congress (ADC) to stage protests targeting major institutions like the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
In response, VeryDarkMan strongly denied the accusations, emphasizing that he is not affiliated with any political party and has no plans to lead protests. He made it clear that his opinions and actions are independent, stating he does not support the ADC, APC, or the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
The activist also spoke out about the growing involvement of celebrities in political campaigns. He argued that voters should make their decisions freely, without being influenced by public figures.
VeryDarkMan reiterated his commitment to addressing issues that affect everyday Nigerians, particularly insecurity and governance. He criticized President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration, highlighting the country’s ongoing security challenges. He stressed that leaders must always be held accountable, regardless of their political affiliations, and noted that criticisms of past governments should apply equally to the current leadership.
His Words:
“DSS called me this morning, saying they heard I’ve been contracted by ADC to lead a protest that could cause unrest in the country. They claimed ADC hired me to protest against INEC and APC.
First of all, I’m not partisan. I don’t support ADC, APC, or PDP. I’m not planning any protest.
I’m also against celebrities endorsing political parties. If Nigerians need celebrities to tell them who to vote for, then they’re not ready to vote.
I see myself as the 4th arm of government—the people’s arm. I speak out on issues that affect everyday Nigerians. Right now, insecurity is a major problem, and I’ve been calling out APC for it. Tinubu’s regime is the worst when it comes to security.
Back in 2014, Tinubu led protests against Goodluck Jonathan, claiming Jonathan wasn’t capable of running the country. Now it’s his turn, and he’s failing. People are dying, losing their homes, and living in fear.
In my opinion, Tinubu should no longer be president of this country.”
