Angelina Jolie has shared her plans to leave the United States, a move she’s been considering for years.
The actress has been waiting for her youngest children, twins Vivienne and Knox, to turn 18. Before making the big decision to relocate abroad.
“Angelina never wanted to live in Los Angeles full-time,” a source previously told People. “She had no choice because of the custody arrangement with Brad.”
Now that Vivienne and Knox, the youngest of her six kids, will turn 18 on July 12, Jolie is ready to make her move.
“She’s looking at several places overseas,” the insider revealed. “She’ll be much happier once she’s able to leave Los Angeles.”
Jolie’s decision to move is deeply tied to her role as a mother.
“When you have a big family, you want them to have privacy, peace, and safety,”. She told The Hollywood Reporter in 2024.
She explained, “I have a home here to raise my children. But sometimes this place… the humanity I’ve experienced around the world is not what I grew up with here.”
Jolie also shared her plans to spend more time in Cambodia. And visit family members wherever they are in the world.
Her global perspective has always influenced her views, including how she sees the United States.
In September, while attending the San Sebastián Film Festival in Spain, Jolie expressed her concerns about the state of America.
“I love my country, but right now, I don’t recognize it,” she said during a panel discussion, as reported by Variety.
“I’ve always lived internationally—my family, my friends, my life are all global. My worldview is about equality, unity, and freedom. Anything that divides or limits personal expression and freedom is very dangerous.”
She added, “These are serious times, and we need to be careful with our words. We’re living through very heavy moments together.”
Jolie has been vocal about her concerns for years. In 2017, she wrote an op-ed for The New York Times opposing President Donald Trump’s immigration ban.
