Paul Moses, candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in the Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC) election, says he had already won the poll by 3 p.m. on Saturday before what he described as the All Progressives Congress (APC)’s “magic” began.
Moses spoke on Monday during an interview on Prime Times, a current affairs programme on Arise Television.
“By 3 p.m. on Saturday, I had already won the election across the board. The results were already in, and then magic began to happen. I reject the outcome of that election,” he said.
INEC Declares APC Candidate Winner
Meanwhile, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared Christopher Maikalangu, the incumbent chairman and APC candidate, the winner of the election.
INEC announced that Maikalangu polled 40,295 votes, defeating his closest rival, Moses, who secured 12,109 votes.
The commission returned Maikalangu as the duly elected chairman of AMAC.
Moses Alleges Irregularities
Earlier, while speaking to the press in Abuja, Moses rejected the declared results.
He accused INEC of disregarding voters and failing to protect the integrity of the process.
According to him, the election witnessed movement restrictions, intimidation of ADC members by security agencies, and widespread vote-buying across several wards.
The ADC candidate alleged that officials delivered election materials late to some polling units, including Kabusa.
In addition, he claimed that some individuals altered polling unit results.
Speaking further, Moses alleged that Musa Abubakar died at a polling unit in Gwagwa while trying to protect his vote.
He said he had visited the deceased’s family and pledged to sponsor his children’s education.
Moses called on authorities to investigate the incident and ensure justice.
