IPOB Calls on Ndigbo to Reject Orji Kalu, Deputy Speaker’s Political Alliance

The Indigenous People of Biafra takes a firm stand against a growing political partnership. This alliance involves prominent figures in Nigerian politics.

IPOB Issues Strong Warning

IPOB calls on Ndigbo to stop the alliance between Senator Orji Uzor Kalu and Deputy Speaker Benjamin Kalu. The group releases a statement through its spokesman, Emma Powerful. He stresses the need for action to protect Igbo interests. Moreover IPOB targets residents of Abia State in particular.

Reasons for Opposition

IPOB accuses the duo of promoting godfatherism and underdevelopment. They claim Orji Kalu and Benjamin Kalu aim to manipulate elections and drain state resources.

Therefore the group labels them as threats to progress. In addition, IPOB warns that this partnership could revert Abia to dark times of obscurity.

The pro-Biafra movement highlights deceitful politics. They declare the Kalus as “no-go individuals” for the 2027 elections. As a result, IPOB vows to obstruct their ambitions.

Historical Context of Abia State’s Struggles

Orji Uzor Kalu governed Abia State from 1999 to 2007. He installed successors like Theodore Orji and Okezie Ikpeazu. These leaders allegedly led the state into stupor and collapse. However the period saw Aba turn into a deserted, trash-filled area without proper roads.

Benjamin Kalu stayed in South Africa during much of this era. Critics say he detached from Abia’s issues. Now he joins forces with Orji Kalu in the All Progressives Congress.

Praise for Current Leadership

Governor Alex Otti restored glory to Abia in just two years. He revitalizes Aba as “Enyi Mba City.” IPOB praises Otti for providing good governance with limited resources. In addition, past leaders like Orji Kalu achieved little despite ample funds.

The group references late Governor Sam Mbakwe as a model. He developed Imo, Abia, and parts of Ebonyi effectively. Therefore, IPOB seeks leaders who prioritize development over personal gain.

Future Implications

This warning deepens divisions in Igbo politics. IPOB positions itself as a guardian against manipulative figures. Moreover it signals potential unrest ahead of 2027 polls.

Ndigbo must decide on unity and progress. The alliance could undermine recent gains. As a result, many watch how leaders respond to IPOB’s call.
