Iran has halted attacks on countries in the Middle East. President Masoud Pezeshkian announced on Saturday that the interim leadership council approved a new policy regarding strikes on neighbouring countries. He made the declaration in a televised address.
President Masoud Pezeshkian said Iran would stop attacking its neighbours. The country would launch strikes only if an attack against Iran came from their territory.
Leadership Council Grants Approval
“The interim leadership council agreed yesterday that no more attacks will be made on neighbouring countries and no missiles will be fired unless an attack on Iran originates from those countries,” President Masoud Pezeshkian stated.
Furthermore, he apologised for previous strikes carried out in the region as reported by ALO360.
Pezeshkian Issues Apology
“I must apologise on my own behalf and on behalf of Iran to the neighbouring countries that were attacked by Iran,” President Masoud Pezeshkian said.
In addition, President Masoud Pezeshkian noted that officials instructed the armed forces to implement the new policy without delay.
Statement Made Amid Ongoing War
The announcement came as the conflict with Israel and the United States continued into its second week. Several neighbouring countries had experienced Iranian missile strikes in recent days.
Moreover, the decision by the interim leadership council represented a clear shift toward greater restraint. President Masoud Pezeshkian called for the new guidelines to take immediate effect across the region.
