Israel Begins New Military Operation in Northern West Bank

The Israeli defense forces began a large-scale operation against terror in the northern part of the West Bank on November 26, 2025. The operation comes against the backdrop of growing violence since the outbreak of the Gaza war in October 2023.

Operation Launch and Scope

The army announced the operation on Wednesday morning. It focuses on northern Samaria, including Tubas, Aqaba, Tammun, al-Far’a and Tayasir. Additionally, actions extend to Nablus and Jenin.

The IDF and Shin Bet led the effort, which started overnight. They aim to dismantle terror networks in these regions.

Reasons for the Operation

Officials state the area has become a haven for terrorism. Terror groups try to entrench themselves there. However, Tubas Governor Ahmad Al-Asaad calls it political rather than security based. He denies claims of wanted individuals in the city. Meanwhile violence has soared, with over 1,000 Palestinians and 44 Israelis killed since 2023.

Military Actions Taken

Troops imposed curfews and sealed entrances with checkpoints and berms. They deployed bulldozers and Apache helicopters, firing into residential areas for the first time in years. Soldiers raided homes, turning some into military posts.

Aircraft surrounded zones, and leaflets warned residents of forceful actions. Several Palestinians faced detention. Airstrikes and tanks supported raids in Jenin and Nablus.

Impacts and Reactions

Schools and workplaces closed due to restrictions. Ambulances struggle to move freely. No immediate casualties from this operation appear reported.

However the situation in Gaza is closely observed by the International community. The social media reaction exposes fears about escalation. The operation may take days, and conflict could escalate.
