Kaduna Court Jails Two People For Impersonation

Kaduna State High Court Judge Amina Bello sentenced two men for cheating by impersonation. The Kaduna Zonal Directorate of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission prosecuted the cases.

Prosecutors File Separate Charges

Officials charged Musa Abdulmalik and Sunday Godwin on one count each. The charge against Musa Abdulmalik stated that he presented himself as Lynn Ben, a female adult entertainer, on Telegram in January 2026 at Kaduna. He cheated one victim identified only as BJK of 80 US dollars. The offence violated Section 308 of the Penal Code Law 2017 of Kaduna State.

Meanwhile, the charge against Sunday Godwin stated that he pretended to be Chrismitchellprivateacc3 on TikTok in 2025 at Kaduna. He cheated several victims of a total of 400 Australian dollars. This offence also violated Section 308 of the same law.

Accused Enter Guilty Pleas

Musa Abdulmalik and Sunday Godwin both pleaded “guilty” to their charges. Prosecutor M.E. Eimonye then asked the court to convict and sentence them accordingly.

Judge Convicts Musa Abdulmalik

Kaduna State High Court Judge Amina Bello convicted Musa Abdulmalik. She sentenced him to five years imprisonment or a fine of 300,000 naira. Additionally, she ordered him to forfeit a Samsung Galaxy S23 ultra mobile phone with IMEI 353568560090176 and 354619360090178 along with the 80 US dollars to the federal government.

Judge Convicts Sunday Godwin

Kaduna State High Court Judge Amina Bello convicted Sunday Godwin. She sentenced him to four years imprisonment or a fine of 300,000 naira.

In addition, she ordered him to forfeit an iPhone 13 mobile phone with IMEI 3515486000720 along with the 400 Australian dollars to the federal government. The judge ruled that the phones served as tools of the crimes and the money represented the proceeds.
