atsina Closes All Public Schools Amid Rising Security Threats

The Katsina State Government ordered an immediate closure of all public schools after a rise in banditry and security threats across the state.

Government Prioritizes Student Safety
Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Yusuf Sulaiman Jibia, briefed journalists in Katsina, saying the government took the decision to protect students and teachers. He explained that security agencies are implementing a statewide safety strategy for schools.

“Although students are taking exams, we must put their safety first,” Jibia said. He added that authorities will reopen schools only after completing a security review of high-risk areas.

Recent Attacks Prompt Action
The government acted after several student abductions in Kebbi and Niger states, which raised concern among parents and officials in the North-West. Katsina authorities aim to prevent similar attacks locally.

Jibia assured citizens that schools will resume once officials put proper protection measures in place. “We are committed to keeping our children safe while they learn,” he said.

Conclusion
Katsina’s school closure shows the government’s proactive stance to protect students and teachers from banditry. The temporary measure ensures schools remain secure until authorities implement safety plans.
