Kuwait International Airport Attacked by Iranian Drones

The Kuwaiti Armed Forces announced that Iranian drones struck Kuwait International Airport on March 28, 2026. The attack caused significant damage to the radar system and triggered a large fire at the airport’s fuel tanks. Authorities confirmed that no injuries occurred during the incident.

Scale of the Attack

Military officials reported that Iran launched a total of 15 drones at Kuwait during the previous 24 hours. Several of these unmanned aerial vehicles penetrated air defenses and hit critical infrastructure at the country’s main aviation hub. The assault marked a serious escalation in regional tensions.

Damage Assessment

Abdullah Al-Rajhi, spokesperson for the Public Authority for Civil Aviation, addressed the media following the attack. He stated, “The attack caused significant damage to the airport’s radar system.” He added that emergency teams and relevant authorities immediately responded to the incident and took necessary measures to comprehensively assess the situation.

Furthermore, the strikes ignited a massive blaze at the airport’s fuel storage facilities. Firefighters battled the flames for nearly 58 hours before fully extinguishing the fire. Thick plumes of black smoke rose into the sky as emergency crews worked through the night to contain the damage.

Operational Response

Al-Rajhi affirmed the Authority’s full commitment to restoring operations. He explained, “We are taking all necessary measures to ensure the safety of operations and restore full operational readiness as soon as possible.” He also noted that the Authority continued coordination with relevant agencies to safeguard the security and safety of civil aviation in the State of Kuwait.
