The Lagos Police have invited comedian and former Big Brother Naija housemate Aderombi Adedayo Martin, popularly known as Dee-One, for questioning.
The invitation followed a video he shared online.
Dee-One Confirms Police Letter
In a video circulating on social media, Dee-One said he received a letter of invitation.
The letter asked him to appear at the Force Intelligence Department (FID), Obalende, on Monday, February 2.
Video Triggered Police Action
The invitation followed a video Dee-One made earlier.
In the video, he addressed Seyi Tinubu, son of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
He asked Seyi Tinubu to advise his father to take a break and rest.
Police Describe Interview as Routine
Reading from the letter, Dee-One said the police described the invite as routine.
According to the letter, officers are conducting an enquiry.
“It is a fact-finding interview,” the letter stated.
Dee-One Explains His Comment
The comedian said his advice was made in good faith.
He linked the comment to an incident during President Tinubu’s visit to Turkey, where the president reportedly tripped.
According to him, the message was not meant as mockery.
“It Was Out of Concern”
Dee-One said his message was rooted in concern.
He described it as the view of a concerned Nigerian.
He maintained that the police invitation would not silence him.
Message to Inspector General of Police
Addressing the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, Dee-One defended his position.
He said he reacted to what he saw during the Turkey trip.
“I aired my view as a normal Nigerian,” he said.
No Regret, No Apology
Dee-One said he does not regret making the video.
He added that he does not believe he did anything wrong.
He said he will not apologise.
Dee-One to Honour Invitation
Despite his stance, the comedian said he will honour the police invitation.
He confirmed he would appear at the FID office on Monday.
He also promised to keep Nigerians informed about the outcome.
