Stella Godwill, a 30-year-old Nigerian woman, lodged a complaint with police on February 6, 2026. She reported that Christabel Simon Monday trafficked her from Nigeria to Ghana for prostitution.
Godwill stated Monday set a daily earnings target of GH¢400 from sex work. When Godwill raised only GH¢250, Monday and her boyfriend Simon Kwarteng assaulted her.
Raid and Arrests

Police arrested Monday in Dabiasem, a suburb of Koforidua. Further probes revealed a brothel facility that Omari Gyamfi operated. Officers discovered 12 additional Nigerian women there, including Princess Sebastian, a 15-year-old minor.
Additionally authorities apprehended Gyamfi as the landlord and a bouncer linked to the operation. They seized quantities of unused condoms during the raid. In total, police detained 15 suspects aged between 15 and 32 years.
Charges and Legal Actions
The suspects faced charges under Sections 273, 274, and 277 of Ghana’s Criminal Offences Act, 1960, and the Human Trafficking Act, 2005. These included human trafficking, assault, operating a brothel, and permitting a minor to engage in prostitution.
Moreover police noted Gyamfi charged occupants GH¢25 daily for using the property as a brothel. Investigations continued, with suspects set for court arraignment.
Official Responses
Ransford Nsiah, the Municipal Police Commander, detailed the events. He stated, “Last Sunday, we received a complaint from another Nigerian lady that she had been assaulted by her mistress, whom we normally call a ‘queen mother.’ The assault happened because she could not meet the daily target of GH¢400 set by the queen mother.”
Augustine Kusi Asante, the Municipal Crime Officer, warned landlords against facilitating illegal activities. Furthermore, police separated the minor for protection and coordinated with the Department of Social Welfare. Authorities urged the public to report similar crimes.
