Meta Announces New Location Fees for Advertisers in Six European Markets

Meta announced on Monday that it will impose new “location fees” on advertisers beginning July 1, 2026. The company introduced these charges to offset Digital Services Taxes and other local levies imposed by governments in specific markets.

The surcharges will apply to all advertisements delivered to users located in the United Kingdom, France, Italy, Spain, Austria, and Turkey. Furthermore, these fees will affect campaigns regardless of where an advertiser’s business maintains its physical headquarters or operations.

Scope of the New Charges

Meta designed the location fees to counterbalance tax burdens that vary by jurisdiction. The company stated that these additional costs stem directly from local government policies targeting large digital service providers.

Advertisers targeting any of the six specified countries will incur the new fees automatically. Consequently, businesses running international campaigns through Meta’s platforms must account for these regional variations in their advertising budgets.
