NDLEA Storms Drug Warehouse, Seizes N6.7bn Opioids

NDLEA officers launched a targeted operation against a major opioids cartel in Lagos. They dismantled the group through intelligence led actions. This move prevented the spread of harmful drugs during the festive season.

Operation Details

Special Operations Unit members conducted raids on November 19 and 20, 2025. First they arrested two suspects at Apple Junction in Festac. Egbo Innocent Udalor and Chukwe Emmanuel transported 300 cartons of opioids in a truck. Officers trailed them to uncover the main warehouse.

Next the team raided the secret storage at 23 Sunny Billa East Street in Bucknor, Isheri, Isolo. They seized massive quantities of illicit substances. Additionally they captured the drug baron and other gang members on site.

Arrests and Recoveries

Authorities arrested Onyekachi Pius Nwanagu, the cartel leader, along with Nwoye Sunday Ali, Nacho Ogochukwu, and Oraghalia Chukwuebuka Philip. In total, six individuals faced detention.

The haul included 7,272,000 tramadol pills worth N3.96 billion. Moreover, officers recovered 526,200 bottles of codeine syrup valued at N2.76 billion. The total street value reached N6.72 billion. Teams transported the drugs in eleven trucks to a secure NDLEA facility.

Agency’s Statement

NDLEA Chairman Brig Gen Mohamed Buba Marwa praised the operatives for their dedication. He called the bust a victory for Nigerians. Furthermore, Marwa warned drug barons that justice would catch up with them.
