In Lagos recently, drug traffickers were seen to hide drugs in counterfeit flight passes by officials of the NDLEA. The trend shows drug dealers adopt new methods to sell their wares.
The Shocking Discovery
Agents tracked dispatch networks in Lagos and found the hidden drugs. They uncovered 2.6 kilograms of Colorado, a synthetic cannabis strain. Traffickers concealed the substance in branded containers and boarding cards that looked ordinary. Additionally, operatives noted that these passes mimic real travel documents to avoid detection.
Key Arrest in Lekki
Authorities arrested Oluchi Celestine on November 18 in Lekki. She possessed the concealed drugs. This arrest disrupted a local distribution chain. Moreover it showed how traffickers target urban areas with dispatch riders.
Broader Operations Yield More Busts
In related actions, NDLEA intercepted other shipments. For example, officers seized 5.4 kilograms of methamphetamine and cannabis in Anambra. They arrested Ebulue Lotanwa Uzochukwu and Christopher Michael Ndibuisi. At Lagos airport, agents found 2.3 kilograms of cocaine in auto parts headed to Gabon. They detained Ameh Solomon and Nwafor Tochukwu Boniface.
In addition to this, there was a trailer in Kogi State which had 4,700kg of skunk cannabis. Three suspects were poised to be arrested. A follow up resulted in the kingpin’s arrest in Jos. At about the same time, NDLEA seized 20kg of cocaine from a Brazilian ship in Apapa seaport. The ship’s crew members and captain were charged.
