Troops of the Nigerian Army have intensified nationwide operations, neutralising dozens of terrorists, arresting 57 suspects, and rescuing 45 kidnapped victims within one week.
The Director of Defence Media Operations, Maj.-Gen. Michael Onoja, announced the update on Friday in Abuja, highlighting major breakthroughs across multiple regions.
North East: Terror Camps Destroyed and Kidnap Victims Rescued
According to Onoja, troops of Operation HADIN KAI eliminated several terrorists, arrested 11 collaborators, and rescued eight kidnapped commuters.
They also destroyed numerous terrorist hideouts during ground and air missions. Additionally, airstrikes in Sambisa Forest neutralised more fighters and demolished their weapons storage facilities.
North West: Bandits Overpowered Across Six States
Under Operation FASAN YAMMA, troops killed many terrorists and bandits while arresting 15 suspects across Zamfara, Kebbi, Sokoto, Katsina, Kaduna, and Niger states.
Furthermore, the army rescued 13 kidnapped victims and recovered weapons, vehicles, livestock, and cash. A suspected arms supplier was also intercepted with ₦4 million and military-grade weapons.
North Central: Major Arrests and Successful Rescue Missions
For Operations ENDURING PEACE and WHIRL STROKE, troops neutralised several extremists and arrested 11 suspects, including the notorious terrorist Umar Idi (alias Lere).
They rescued 19 kidnapped victims and recovered weapons, vehicles, and other illegal items during multiple raids.
South South: Illegal Refineries Destroyed
Troops of Operation DELTA SAFE also made significant progress. They halted oil theft worth over ₦173 million, destroyed 11 illegal refining sites, and arrested 13 suspects linked to crude oil crimes.
South East: Criminal Hideouts Eliminated
In the South East, troops of Operation UDO KA rescued five kidnapped victims and arrested seven criminals. Coordinated air strikes also destroyed terrorist safe havens in Enugu State.
Military Reaffirms Commitment to Nationwide Security
Maj.-Gen. Onoja praised the troops for their bravery and professionalism. He also urged Nigerians to continue supporting the military with credible intelligence.
He reaffirmed the armed forces’ commitment to protecting lives, property, and national sovereignty until peace and stability are fully restored across the country.
