The National Orientation Agency (NOA) condemned the abduction of 25 students from the Government Girls Comprehensive Secondary School in Kebbi State. It also denounced the violent attacks on Christian worshippers in Eruku Town, Kwara State.
Mallam Lanre Issa-Onilu, NOA’s Director General, called the Kebbi incident “reprehensible” and said it violates children’s rights to safety and education. He stressed that schools must remain secure spaces, especially for girls.
Kebbi Protecting Religious Freedom
Issa-Onilu expressed condolences to the victims of the Kwara attacks. He called the violence “senseless and unacceptable” and reaffirmed that Nigeria guarantees freedom of worship. Any attack targeting citizens for their faith is unlawful and unpatriotic, he said.
Government Action and Public Role
Following President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s directives, security agencies are actively working to rescue the abducted schoolgirls and worshippers. Authorities are carrying out intelligence-led operations and coordinated patrols.
The NOA keeps the public informed through monthly National Security Briefings, highlighting achievements by security and regulatory agencies. Issa-Onilu urged citizens to provide timely information to help prevent further attacks.
Conclusion
NOA’s firm response underlines the government’s commitment to protecting children and safeguarding religious freedoms. Citizen cooperation with security agencies is crucial to restore safety and prevent future incidents.
