Nationwide Orientation Exercise Set To Begin

Nigeria’s National Youth Service Corps, the federal programme established to promote unity among graduates, has confirmed that the 2026 Batch ‘A’ Stream One Orientation Course will officially commence nationwide on Wednesday, 21 January 2026.

The announcement was made public through an official statement posted on Tuesday via the verified X platform of the National Youth Service Corps, outlining key dates and activities for the three-week programme across all thirty-seven orientation camps in Nigeria.

Registration, Swearing-In, And Closing Dates Released

According to the statement, “Camp Registration for all Corps Members will take place from Wednesday, 21st to midnight of Friday 23rd, January, 2026.
“The Swearing-in Ceremony holds on Friday, 23rd January, 2026, while the Closing Ceremony will take place on Tuesday, 10th February, 2026.”

These dates define the structure of the orientation programme, which is compulsory for all newly mobilized graduates before they proceed to their places of primary assignment.

Director-General Issues Travel Advisory
The Director-General of the National Youth Service Corps, Brigadier General Olakunle Nafiu, advised prospective corps members to exercise caution while travelling to their various states of deployment.

He urged them to avoid night journeys and to prioritize personal safety as they move across Nigeria’s long-distance transport routes.

Strict Compliance Emphasized

The National Youth Service Corps management further stressed that corps members must strictly follow the orientation timetable and camp regulations to ensure the programme runs efficiently across the country.

Purpose And Historical Background
Founded in 1973 after the Nigerian Civil War, the National Youth Service Corps was designed to strengthen national cohesion by deploying graduates to states other than their places of origin.

Throughout the orientation camp, participants engage in paramilitary training, national awareness lectures, Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development courses, and cultural activities that promote unity, discipline, and mutual respect among Nigeria’s youth population.
