Oba of Benin Sanctions Queen, Chiefs and Staff Over Unauthorised Palace Visit by Peller

The Benin Traditional Council sanctioned a palace queen a chief and other staff members after they granted unauthorised access to social media influencer Habeeb Hamzat Adelaja popularly known as Peller. Officials acted swiftly to uphold centuries old traditions and restore order at the Oba of Benin palace.

As reported by ALO360 the council took these measures on behalf of the Oba of Benin Omo N’Oba N’Edo Uku Akpolokpolo Ewuare II.

Council Issues Strong Statement

Secretary of the Benin Traditional Council Frank Irabor released the official statement on March 17 2026. Consequently the council confirmed that Peller gained entry without permission on March 6 2026.

Moreover Frank Irabor explained that Peller and his entourage entered the palace grounds without the required approval. As a result their actions caused significant embarrassment and breached the peace inside the sacred premises.

Council Highlights Gravity of Breach

Frank Irabor quoted the council directly in the statement. “The council confirms that an individual Habeeb Hamzat Adelaja a social media influencer popularly known as Peller gained unauthorised access to the palace premises on the said date” he said.

Furthermore the statement stressed the palace rules. “The Benin Traditional Council views this incident with the utmost gravity. The Palace is not a public thoroughfare or a location for frivolous content creation it is the ancient and spiritual seat of the Oba of Benin governed by centuries of tradition custom and sacred protocols” Frank Irabor added.

Council Announces Sanctions

The Benin Traditional Council suspended a palace chief indefinitely after the preliminary investigation. Additionally officials detained a staff member identified as Mr Omuemu. Therefore police charged Mr Omuemu in court for causing a breach of the peace and aiding the unauthorised entry.

In addition the council placed a queen who featured in the incident under serious disciplinary proceedings. Consequently these proceedings may lead to her removal from the palace in line with Benin traditions and customs.

Council Demands Action from Peller

The Benin Traditional Council extended an invitation to Peller through the same channels that allowed his entry. However Peller failed to honour the invitation.

Therefore the council demanded that Peller appear immediately before a committee of chiefs. Moreover officials required him to tender an unreserved written apology to the palace. As a result failure to comply will force the council to pursue legal action through law enforcement agencies.

Council Introduces New Access Rules

The Benin Traditional Council announced fresh guidelines to prevent future breaches. Henceforth visitors must submit written applications and obtain prior approval.

In addition the council introduced an official access pass system and banned loitering. Consequently anyone who enters without permits will face full consequences under traditional law.
