Operatives of the Nigeria Customs Service Ogun Area 1 Command intercepted four live pangolins during a patrol on Thursday at about 3 am. They acted on intelligence and flagged down a motorcycle along the Yemoamota-Abule Igboora axis in Ogun State. Suspects abandoned the vehicle and the animals before fleeing into dense terrain amid evening fog.
The pangolins remained confined in wire mesh cages inside a sack. Officers discovered the sophisticated packaging, which suggested an organized smuggling syndicate.
