Troops of Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK) have arrested eight suspects linked to a suicide bombing network in Adamawa State. Importantly, the arrests include two principal suspects believed to have supplied materials for the attack.
The military carried out the operation as part of intensified cordon-and-search missions targeting those behind the Gamboru Market Mosque suicide bombing. Authorities confirmed the development on Monday.
Operation Hadin Kai raids Mubi location
According to a statement issued in Maiduguri by the Media Information Officer of Joint Task Force North East, Lt Col Sani Uba, the troops acted on sustained intelligence.
As a result, OPHK personnel raided the Yan Lemo area of Mubi South Local Government Area in the early hours of January 5, 2026.
“Eight suspects were apprehended, including two principal suspects believed to be key facilitators within the suicide bombing network,” the statement said.
Troops recover cash, phones, explosives trail
During the raid, troops searched the suspects’ residence and recovered cash, mobile phones, ATM cards, identification documents, jewellery, and other personal items.
Meanwhile, forensic teams have begun analysing the recovered materials to support ongoing investigations. In addition, a suspect already in custody identified the two principal suspects as those who supplied materials used to prepare the improvised explosive device.
Security forces also linked other occupants of the residence to the network, thereby expanding the scope of the investigation.
Suspects remain in custody
Currently, all eight suspects remain in military custody. Investigators are questioning them to extract further intelligence.
Subsequently, authorities will transfer the suspects for continued investigation after completing preliminary procedures.
OPHK intercepts terrorist fuel supply
In a related operation, Operation Hadin Kai troops intercepted suspected terrorist logistics in Mayo Nguli, Maiha Local Government Area, on January 4, 2026.
Specifically, troops seized 45 jerrycans of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), totalling about 1,125 litres, which smugglers intended for terrorist use.
However, the suppliers fled immediately after sighting the troops and abandoned the fuel. The operation ended without casualties.
Military urges vigilance
Overall, the military said the operations demonstrate OPHK’s resolve to dismantle terrorist networks and disrupt supply chains.
Therefore, OPHK headquarters urged residents to remain vigilant and cooperate with security agencies. According to the command, public support remains vital to sustaining security across the North-East.
