The Oyo State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of a 22-year-old suspect in connection with an alleged rape case involving a teenage girl in the state. The Command described the arrest as part of its ongoing efforts to protect residents and combat sexual offences.
The police disclosed this in a press release issued on December 30, 2025, and signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ayanlade Olayinka, on behalf of the Commissioner of Police.
Incident reported in Ibadan
According to the statement, the incident was reported on December 25, 2025, at about 7:00 p.m. at the Alakia Adelubi Police Division in Ibadan. Officers at the division received a report of sexual assault involving a minor.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect, identified as Daniel Ajibola, allegedly administered an intoxicating drink to the victim before committing the offence.
Medical care and suspect arrest
Following the report, police officers promptly took the victim to a hospital for medical examination. Meanwhile, investigators visited the scene of the incident and arrested the suspect.
Furthermore, the Command said the suspect has allegedly confessed to the offence, although investigations are still ongoing.
Case transferred to SCID
Given the seriousness of the allegation, the Commissioner of Police, Oyo State Command, ordered the transfer of the case to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for discreet and thorough investigation.
The Commissioner also directed that the suspect be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations.
Police issue warning
On the other hand, the Command warned that it will not tolerate violence against women or any member of society. It reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding lives and property across the state.
